A Book of Mormon Challenge

From Kaydee Morey
Teaching in Texas, USA

Our Ward has been doing a Book of Mormon challenge for the summer. We started on memorial day, and it's going until labor day. It is amazing to see how unified this ward is getting by reading the Book of Mormon. The Spirit truly is in those words that the prophets wrote. I have seen a beautiful Spirit dwell in the countenance of all of the members.

I know that the Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. I know that Joseph Smith translated it by the power of God. I encourage all of you to read it cover to cover. There is a member of this ward that has read it 100+ times and he said he still learns something new each time he reads it. I hope to be like him someday and be on my 100th time. I know that I will get there, and I know you can too.

I love you all!

An Incredible Week of Miracles

From Cambree King
Teaching in Honduras

... This week was an incredible week of miracles and I am so happy I got to be here to see all of this happen. First off... I do have transfers. I will leave (Juticalpa, Honduras) in the morning tomorrow but I don’t know to where. I said all my goodbyes Sunday because I was pretty certain I was leaving. I am excited for new things. Something different... a new companion, area, investigators, challenges and successes.

As for the miracles... One of the very first persons that I met here in Honduras is a lady named Johanna. She is living with a member (who was less active) but started to come to church back in August. Johanna always came with her. We tried so many times to put a baptism date with Johanna or teach her or try to talk to her but it was so difficult. The desire really just wasn’t there. On Tuesday, she called us in the morning and said she wanted to be baptized the next day. So we went over the baptism questions and the next day she was baptized. It was absolutely incredible. It made me realize and understand so much more about the Lords timing in all thing here.

We are also visiting another less active [member] who hasn’t come to church for 10 years. Sunday, she finally came and it was one of the happiest moments here. To see the light in her eyes as she took the sacrament is a moment I will never forget.

And another... we have been working with a family and they never ever come to church. And this Sunday they finally came. As I said my goodbye... Felipa started to cry and I realized that all the work we had done has really made a difference. I know that one day her and her family will be baptized and will be so happy.

We Can't Realize the Love He Has For Us

From Xaviere Page
Teaching in Nicaragua

This week, an incredibly beautiful thing happened. We had been teaching this lady and her baptismal date was for the 13th. She had no money and she had lost her job. My companion told her, ´' Teresa (her name) if you are baptized on this day and have the sincere desire to follow Christ, the Lord will bless you with a job. The day after her baptism (her confirmation), she was told that a lady was looking for some help and had a job for her. She was super happy, and now she is employed. I don’t know what the Lord is going to do or when, but He is so loving of His children. We can’t realize the love that He has for us. I am striving everyday to develop this love, and to love how He does. I will never be able to love how He does, but that is my goal in life. I think a few people will see this right? To all that see this, God loves you and you are loved by others. Smile and remember: everyday is the first day of your life. What happened yesterday cannot be touched or done over again. You can only keep moving forward.

Much Love!

She Has So Much Happiness Now!

From Karsten Hinckley
Teaching in Thailand

This past week was really great! [I learned] that we need to be bold in our teaching, but not over bearing. Christ was bold, but He surely backed everything up with happiness. I know that I need to watch what I do and say every day in lessons, talking to members or just inviting. I need to take a step back and ask myself, “What would Christ ask this person or tell this person?”  I know I will try and be more Christ-like this week.

We met this girl about a month ago and she had some commandment problems, but we did not stress out about that. We supported this sister every day. We continued to teach and care. One month late, she got baptized. [The baptism was] this past Saturday and on Sunday she got the Holy Ghost. Her name is Nam. She has so much happiness now! From the first time we met to now you can see how this gospel has changed her and brought so much happiness into her life. I am so happy for this sister and her willingness to change and follow the Savior! I will strive myself to follow the Savior and help others know what He has in store for them. A goal this week I made was to invite all the homeless and needy who are begging for money to come to church. I think of Amos 3:6 I believe it is where it says, gold and silver have I none but what I have I will give thee. I know this is something that Christ would do and I know it is what one of the Apostles did. So I am going to try and do it every day. I challenge you all to try it yourself it if is possible.
